Welcome to our Kids Sewing Club! We are pleased to begin a new curriculum, SEWciety Kids sewing program, starting in January! The new schedule is the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, 4pm - 5:15 pm, for 75 min sessions! (No more 2 hr sessions!) We will complete one project per month. All fabrics and supplies will be included within the class fee. The students will be given a selection of fabrics to choose from. There may be exceptions, ie. for the first project in February, the students will need to bring a plain white t-shirt that we will embellish and add fabric to. Projects for February - June include an upscaled t-shirt, a quilted pillow, a reversible apron, leggings, a tote bag, a knit shirt. You can see there are a variety of items that will teach expanding skills. There is a small list of tools each student needs to bring to each session: Fabric scissors, paper scissors, thread nippers or small thread scissors, 1" x 6" ruler or a seam gauge, straight pins, seam ripper, marking pen or chalk. All tools purchased for use in class receive a 10% discount at HCQ. Moving forward, all students will be using a HCQ store sewing machine, the Burnette B33. This will make classroom time management and organization easier for the teacher. In order to familiarize the students with the machine, all (even those who have participated in Kids Club before) are required to first attend one session of the Beginners Workshop. This is a 75 min class which includes learning the B33 machine and then making a small cinch bag to practice what they learned. The cinch bag will fit all the students' tools for future sessions! Beginners Workshop sessions to choose from: January 2nd and 16th, 4pm - 5:15pm. All supplies and tools are provided for the Beginners workshop. Once the student has attended one workshop session, they can sign up for all future after school Kids Club sessions! ALL NEW STUDENT NEED TO SIGN UP FOR THE KIDS QUICK START PROGRAM. In this class they learn fundamentals and receive their Kids Club Class Kit.
